洛杉磯時報（LA Times）這篇評論文章由近來土耳其軍方發動政變未果談起，分析川普（Donald Trump）在競選期間受訪時，他曾大談若當選美國總統，要修法刑求恐怖分子，授權軍方追殺恐怖分子的家人等爭議言行，如同下令美軍觸犯戰爭罪。
評論文章指出，果真川普總統執行川普候選人的政見，無意是把國家與人民置於險境，那麼軍方將領若選擇不從，這位地產大亨或許會三思緩議。
而要是他一意孤行，無疑迫使美軍得由遵守他們所宣示效忠的憲法和執行領袖意志中二擇一。這也是美國前中央情報局局長海登（Michael Hayden）曾斷言，若川普當選總統下令於法不合，美軍可能抗命，軍隊抗命的後果對於政情造成的衝擊與動盪，可想而知。
評論文章並舉例，韓戰期間，五星上將麥克阿瑟（Douglas MacArthur）因痛批前美國總統杜魯門（HarryS Truman）不同意轟炸中國大陸，儘管臨陣換將是兵家大忌，杜魯門仍不留情面，下令革麥克阿瑟的職。
而依據川普在競選期間的表現，評論文章說，情節的發展可能會反過來，因為他會革職不執行轟炸任務的將領，猶如川普的手下敗將參議員盧比歐（MarcoRubio）所言，怎麼能把核彈密碼交給舉止言行異常的領袖？
雖然洛時的評論文章質疑若川普當選總統可能與軍方關係緊張不利政情穩定，不過根據「軍事時報」（Military Times）5月10日公布的民調，川普在軍中的支持率，壓倒民主黨總統參選人希拉蕊（HillaryClinton）。
調查顯示，川普在陸軍、海軍、空軍和陸戰隊的支持度，分別是56%、48%、54%與60%，而希拉蕊分別只有24%、31%、25%和18%。1050721
